Social Club #6 - Avo a Veggies BFF

Avocados. This is what we had to bring to Social Club.  An incredible fruit and its also called the alligator pear, haha!

Funny avo fact:
In the United Kingdom, the avocado became widely available in the 1960s when it was introduced by Marks and Spencer under the name 'avocado pear'. However, many customers tried to use it as a dessert ingredient like other pears (e.g. with custard), and complained to the store that it was inedible. As a result, Marks and Spencer dropped the word 'pear' and labelled it simply 'avocado'.

Avos, vegetarians BFF:
The avocado is very popular in vegetarian cuisine, as substitute for meats in sandwiches and salads because of its high fat content.

Avos are swcheet:
In the PhilippinesBrazilIndonesiaVietnam, and southern India (especially the coastal Kerala and Karnataka region), avocados are frequently used for milkshakes and occasionally added toice cream and other desserts. In BrazilVietnam, the Philippines[29] and Indonesia, a dessert drink is made with sugar, milk or water, and pureed avocado. Chocolate syrup is sometimes added.

Karina, our host has been a vegetarian her whole life and this always fascinates me, as I have been a  carnivore  forever! The skill that Karina was going to teach us was how to make a 3 course vegan meal which is all raw. We were like, whaaaaaat? Impossible!!

Karina

I'm sure that in this day and age everyone have one or two vegetarian friends and when you are planning a dinner party, you could find it a challenge to come up with something delicious to cook for them.  I don't want to go with the boring stuff like, veg lasagne, veg curry or a stuffed pepper, it would be nice to surprise them with something phenomenal!

So now you can!! Here's the menu that Karina put together for us.

Starter: Crispy tortilla chips with chunky guacamole
I must say that first of all it was the biggest bowl of guacamole I've ever seen in my life and it disappeared in 10 minutes, which shows you it was hella tasty!

Light Main: Chilled gazpacho with freshly baked bread
I have never had a cold soup and I am a soup fanatic! This one had so much flavour and I really enjoyed the bite from the chili, this would also make a good option for a veg starter.

Dessert: Healthy 5 min chocolate mouse
This is another dish where we used the veggies BFF fruit, the avo, which had our mouths hanging on the floor, because come on!!!! Avo in dessert, no way!! Well yes way and YUM all the way!!! Plus its super healthy! Amen to that sista! The pomegranate on top just complimented the flavours.

Thanks Karina for showing us the green way and I hope to impress you next time I have you over for dinner!
